Canteen cash up for grabs!
What makes a great bid?
Before you get started with your brilliant bid for a better canteen, make sure you have everything in place and all the right people on board.
Do your research
You can’t put forward a solution unless you know what the problem is – and whether everyone else at school agrees. So you need to do a little research:
- Use this questionnaire as a starting point to help you gather feedback.
- Visit the canteen and find out what everyone thinks of it.
- Talk to as many people as you can – pupils, teachers, caterers and parents.
Focus your attention on one thing
Don't try to tackle everything at once. Identifying the biggest issue in your canteen will help focus the task to find the strongest solution. Use our Ideas Zone to help you look for problem-solvers.
Show success
Explain how your solution will benefit the canteen, the other pupils, caterers and the teachers who use it. And demonstrate how it will increase the number of pupils eating school meals.
Involve a teacher
Your teacher will need to register for you on the site and will help you organise any resources you and your team require.
Don't go it alone
The success of your entry hinges on working as a team and taking the views of the whole school into account. So stick together, keep talking… and most importantly, keep listening.
