TERMS AND CONDITIONS
THE PRIZE
- The Canteen Rescue Grant Scheme offers schools the opportunity to bid for a canteen grant of any value up to £10,000. This is to be put towards making improvements to the dining hall that will assist to increase school meal take up.
ELIGIBILITY
- The Competition is only open to schools located within the United Kingdom.
- All entrants must be signed up to Million Meals to take part. If entrants are not signed up, they must register at http://millionmeals.schoolfoodtrust.org.uk. Schools shortlisted for any of the Prizes will be checked to ensure they are Million Meals members.
- Employees, families or agents of the Promoter and/or any of its associated companies are not eligible to enter the Competition. In any event, the Promoter reserves the right to refuse any entry which it considers in its sole discretion to be ineligible in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
- Winning schools must be able to provide School Food Trust with records of the number of school dinners sold each week for the previous year.
- Winning schools must share their winner’s story in the “Ideas Zone”.
- The details of the activities undertaken by the entrants and winning entries of the Canteen Rescue Grant Scheme may be highlighted as good practice on the Million Meals website and in other School Food Trust publications. By submitting an entry, you are agreeing that the details of your activities and the school name can be publicised. Contact details will not be published without the express permission of the head teacher.
- By entering your school, you agree to be involved in the media activities, both at the time of winning and after a period of time once the money has been spent on the dining hall.
- In all cases the winning school must provide a copy of all invoice/s within 3 months of the money being awarded to confirm that the money was used towards improvements to the dining hall.
HOW TO ENTER
- Entrants must have access to the internet.
- In order to enter, schools must either have already registered for Canteen Rescue, or must first register at www.getreal.uk.com/canteenrescue (the Website).
- Each school can register multiple times, but an email address can only be registered once.
- Once a registration has been processed, the registrant will receive the log-in and password necessary to submit their entry.
- No payment is required for registration or entry.
- Registration commences 4th October 2011. The closing date for receipt of entries is 28th February 2012.
- Schools can submit multiple bids for a grant, but can only have one submission under consideration at any time. Nominations are limited to one entry per school per month. There is no limit on the amount of months that a school can submit an entry form during the campaign period.* Whilst a bid is under consideration by School Food Trust, no other bids can be submitted.
- Each school can only win once. Once school has been awarded a grant, no further bids can be submitted.
- All entries must have been seen by the relevant head teacher prior to submission.
- All entries must include the following information:
- What's the main issue in your canteen? - identify what the main area of concern in your canteen is.
- How do you know this is the issue? - describe the process you used to highlight the problem area and what you've done to gather feedback from the whole school.
- What solution have you found to solve the issue? - use the Ideas Zone to identify the best solution to your canteen's problem. Describe how your solution will tackle the issue and explain how the changes will benefit the canteen, your fellow pupils, caterers and the teachers who use it.
- How much will your solution cost? How much cash are you bidding for? - find out how much the solution you've identified will cost and then bid for the amount (up to £10,000).
- Upload an image of your canteen - include an image of your current canteen with your bid entry.
- It is important that you complete all sections in the Entry Form. Failure to enter information for the mandatory questions will result in your nomination being rejected.
- Due to the large number of nominations received on a monthly basis, the School Food Trust is unable to seek further clarification to answers, and nominations can only be evaluated on the information provided at the time of submission.
- The Promoter’s decision in determining the eligibility of any entrant or the validity of any registration or entry is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
AWARDING THE PRIZES
- Grants will be awarded each month to entrants whose submissions best meet the entry criteria (in the opinion of the Promoter’s independent judging panel) [showing the whole school has been involved in finding out how to improve the canteen; how the Ideas Zone has been used to highlight the best solution; demonstrating how the solution will increase the number of pupils eating school meals].
- No chance is involved in the selection of the winners.
- No school may win more than one Canteen Rescue Grant.
- The prize is not transferable to another school.
- The decision of the Promoter's Independent judging panel in awarding the Prizes is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- A list of winners may be requested by writing to the Promoter at its address given below and enclosing a prepaid self-addressed A4 envelope.
PRIZE FULFILLMENT
- The Promoter will contact the winning entrants within 6 weeks of their bid submission.
GENERAL
- The Competition is governed by these Terms and Conditions. The registration and entry instructions given on the Website form part of these Terms and Conditions.
- The Promoter accepts no responsibility or liability for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of, or unauthorised access to entries, or entries lost, incomplete or delayed whether or not arising during operation or transmission as a result of server functions, virus, bugs or other causes outside its control. All lost, damaged or incomplete attempts to upload entries will be deemed invalid.
- Copyright in all entries remains vested in the entrant. By entering this Competition, each entrant warrants to the Promoter that the copyright and all other intellectual property rights in its entry (i) is owned by or validly licensed to it and (ii) does not (nor will its use by the Promoter or its agencies or partners in connection with the Competition) infringe the rights of any third party.
- By entering this Competition, each entrant consents (subject to the proviso in paragraph [31] below) to the publication by the Promoter (or by its agencies or partners) of its entry (or any part thereof) for publicity purposes connected with the Competition and grants to the Promoter an irrevocable non-exclusive royalty-free licence to use all copyright and other intellectual property rights in its entry for the purposes of the Competition, the fulfillment of the Prizes awarded pursuant thereto and any publicity issued by the Promoter (or by its agencies or partners) in connection therewith.
- By entering this Competition, you give us all necessary consents in relation to your personal data (e.g. your name, email address, photographs) in order for us to operate the Competition. Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without your consent.
- By entering the Competition, all entrants are deemed to accept these Terms and Conditions. The terms and conditions of any third party supplier (including a supplier of any Prize) may apply and must be accepted and complied with by the winner.
- The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or to modify or cancel the Competition without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside its control.
- Other than for death or personal injury arising from negligence of the Promoter, so far as is permitted by law, the Promoter hereby excludes all liability for any loss, liabilities, damage, cost and expense, whether direct or indirect, howsoever caused incurred by you in connection with the Competition or any aspect of the Prize. The Promoter does not accept responsibility for any damage (whether material or non-material) caused to entrants, their school property or to their personal, professional or commercial activities. The Promoter will not be liable if a Prize cannot be taken by a winner for any reason.
- These Terms and Conditions will be exclusively governed by and construed and performed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales unless you as an entrant are a Scottish resident or a resident of Northern Ireland in which case you may choose the law of your residence. You irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales unless you are a Scottish resident or a resident of Northern Ireland in which case you may choose the courts of your place of residence.
- The Promoter of the Competition is School Food Trust, N9 Moorfoot, Sheffield S1 4PQ (the "Promoter").
- The Promoter reserves the right to allocate responsibility of communication with winners to any of its agencies or partners.
* A school is not eligible for entry in the Canteen Rescue Grant Scheme if it is involved in any SFT intervention work or had support from SFT staff in any way. The school will only become eligible for nomination three months after the involvement with SFT has ceased. It is recommended to seek clarity if unsure about the school’s eligibility.
